Afrikaanse name[wysig bron]

Like Stettyn and Gdansk, isn't there an Afrikaans name for the city. I know the Afrikaans has no historical value in the region, and is most likely therefore to call it by it's Native (Lithuanian) name, but is there a chance that there's another name?

Same problem as with Königsberg/Koningsberg/Kaliningrad - there is or was a German name, Memel, but its use should be restricted to an article that deals with the history of the German city. After 1945, only a handful of German survivors (maybe six?) remained in Memel. The end of WWII brought a dramatic change in the ethnic composition, along with the new political status, and the general consensus is that the official name should be used for the modern city. --Voyageur (kontak) 16:14, 2 Augustus 2009 (UTC)[antwoord]
