Explosions in the Sky is 'n instrumentele postrockgroep vanuit Austin, Texas (VSA). Die groep het buite die postrock-veld al gewildheid verwerf, te danke aan hul sinematiese, uitspattig ontwikkelde kitaarwerk, sprekend gestileerde instrumentele, wat hulle as "kathaartiese minisimfonieë" beskryf, en hul entoesiastiese en emosionele regstreekse opvoerings.[1] Hulle speel hoofsaaklik met drie elektriese kitare en 'n tromstel, terwyl groepslid Michael James soms sy elektriese kitaar met 'n baskitaar verwissel.[2]
