Die Grootoog-sambokhaai (Alopias superciliosus) kom wêreldwyd en reg rondom die Suid-Afrikaanse kus voor, van Angola tot by KwaZulu-Natal. Dit word deur die IUBN geklassifiseer as 'n kwesbare spesie. In Engels staan die haai bekend as die Bigeye thresher.
