'n is translated in english as the word a, as in:

  • a house, would be : 'n huis

what do you mean by nasalization ???'

Nasalization has to do with how the airflow goes through your knows, I would guess 'n is pronounced more or less like "uh", but less deep, more with the "eh" sound, but slower, like when you bump your toe and go "uh". In IPA, I would describe 'n as sounding like the mid central vowel ə — Adriaan90 (BesprekingBydraes) 19:01, 23 Augustus 2008 (UTC)[antwoord]

Gebruikerbespreking,

Baie dankie!!

In some accents people tend to emphasize the 'n by saying hən (as in Atilla the Hun, but more like həhn, said fastly), and some people would say əhn, but the youth today mostly speaks of ə — Adriaan90 (BesprekingBydraes) 09:44, 24 Augustus 2008 (UTC)[antwoord]

I don't really understand, could you give me an example/ sentence of how to say 'n, please.

For example= Daar is 'n kakkerlakker.

How would you say it, please?

i am an afrikaner and am from an afrikaner family and we and our white family who live in pretoria say: 'n as a UN sound in english --Bezuidenhout (kontak) 10:04, 24 Augustus 2008 (UTC)[antwoord]
Mostly 'n is pronounced exactly as you would say a in English.  — Adriaan90 (BesprekingBydraes) 10:52, 24 Augustus 2008 (UTC)[antwoord]
