Isotope van fermium
Voorkoms
Die chemiese element fermium (Fm), met ’n atoommassa van ongeveer 257 u, het geen stabiele isotope nie en word dus as ’n radioaktiewe element geklassifiseer. Die 18 isotope is onstabiel en het ’n relatief kort halfleeftyd (die meeste minder as ’n uur).
In die natuur kom geen fermium voor nie; alle isotope is sinteties in ’n laboratorium berei. Die eerste sintetiese isotoop was 255Fm, in 1952.
Die kortslewende isotoop van fermium is 242Fm, met ’n halfleeftyd van ongeveer 0,8 millisekondes. Die langslewende een is 257Fm, met ’n halfleeftyd van 100,5 dae.
