Die menslike hart en long, uit 'n ouer weergawe van Gray's Anatomy.

Anatomie (van die Grieks ἀνατομία, anatomia, anatemno, "oopsny") is die vertakking van biologie wat die struktuur van lewende wesens bestudeer. Dit is 'n algemene term wat die menslike anatomie, dierlike anatomie (soötomie) en plantanatomie. In sommige aspekte is anatomie nou verwant aan ontwikkelingsleer (embriologie), vergelykende anatomie en vergelykende ontwikkelingsleer.[1]

Anatomie word verdeel in makroskopiese anatomie en mikroskopiese anatomie.[1] Makroskopiese anatomie is die bestudering van anatomiese strukture wat sonder enige hulpmiddels waargeneem kan word. Mikroskopiese anatomie is die bestudering van piepklein anatomiese strukture met behulp van mikroskope. Mikroskopiese anatomie sluit ook weefselleer (histologie) en selleer (sitologie) in.

Die geskiedenis van anatomie is deur die jaar heen gekarakteriseer deur 'n aanhoudend ontwikkelende begrip van die funksies van organe en strukture in die liggaam. Bestuderingsmetodes het ook dramaties gevorder, van die bestudering van diere tot die ontleding van kadawers (menslike lyke) tot die tegnologies komplekse tegnieke wat in die 20ste eeu ontwikkel is.

Oppervlakanatomie is die studie van anatomiese bakens wat deur die oog op die oppervlak van die liggaam waargeneem kan word. Kennis van oppervlakanatomie help geneeskundiges en vee-chirurge om die posisie en anatomie van geassosieerde dieper strukture te bepaal.
