Johannes VI was die 85ste pous van die Rooms-Katolieke Kerk.
Biografie
Pous Johannes VI is van Griekse afkoms gebore in Efese. Op 30 Oktober 701 volg hy Pous Sergius I op en regeer tot sy dood op 11 Januarie 705. Hy word opgevolg deur Pous Johannes VII. Die naam ‘Johannes’ beteken 'God is genadig'.
Pontifikaat
Tydens Johannes VI se pontifikaat was daar stryd teen die Lombarde. Die pous het goewerneur Theophylactos, die deur keiser Justinianus II na Italië gestuur is, gehelp en voorkom dat geweld teen Rome gebruik word. Gedeeltelik deur oorreding en gedeeltelik deur omkopery slaag hy daarin om die Lombardiese hertog Gisulf van Benevento te laat terugtrek uit die keiserlike ryk.
