Solanum mauritianum Luisboom is 'n indringende klein boom of struik wat kan groei tot 'n hoogte van tien meter. Dit het groot ovaal-formige groen-grys blare wat oortrek is met klein haartjies. Die blom is pers met 'n groen middel. Die plant kan die hele jaar blom, maar die vrugte kom slegs voor in laat-lente tot die vroeë-somer. Die plant kan tot 30 jaar lewe.
Die plant is inheems tot Suid-Amerika, maar is ook versprei in Nieuw-Seeland en Suid-Afrika. Die plant is giftig en kan irritasie en naarheid meebring.
