Proxima Centauri b (ook genoem Proxima b[1][2]) is ’n eksoplaneet wat voorkom in die bewoonbare sone van die rooidwergster Proxima Centauri, die naaste ster aan die Son.[3][4] Dit lê sowat 4,2 ligjare (1,3 parsek of 40 biljoen km) van die Aarde af in die sterrebeeld Sentour en is dus die naaste bekende eksoplaneet aan die Sonnestelsel.

Aanvanklik is geglo die planeet kan nie bewoonbaar wees nie omdat dit 2 000 keer groter sterwinddruk ondervind as die Aarde van die Son. Volgens ’n nuwe studie in Oktober 2016 het navorsers by Frankryk se CNRS-navorsingsinstituut egter bevind daar is ’n aansienlike kans dat die planeet oppervlak-oseane en ’n dun atmosfeer het – faktore wat op lewe kan dui.[5] Meer inligting oor die fisieke eienskappe is nodig voordat ’n werklike evaluasie gedoen kan word.[6][7][8]
