Edsger W. Dijkstra
Edsger Wybe Dijkstra (/ˈdaɪkstrə/ ; 11 Mei 1930 – 6 Augustus 2002) was 'n Nederlandse rekenaarwetenskaplike, programmeerder, sagteware ingenieur, stelselwetenskaplike, en wetenskap essayis.[1][2] Hy het die 1972 Turing-toekenning ontvang vir fundamentele bydraes tot die ontwikkeling van gestruktureerde programmerings tale, en was die Schlumberger Centennial Chair of Computer Sciences by die Universiteit van Texas at Austin van 1984 tot 2000.
Kort voor sy dood in 2002, hy het die ACM PODC Influential Paper Award in verspreide rekenaars ontvang vir sy werk oor selfstabilisering van programberekening. Hierdie jaarlikse toekenning is die volgende jaar herdoop na die Dijkstra-prys ter ere van hom.
