[wysig bron]Reg in Afrikaans: De Champlain, Samuel; De Gaulle, Charles ~ Burgert (kontak) 21:38, 16 Oktober 2021 (UTC)
@Culex: I notice from your profile that your Afrikaans might well be minimal, so may I use English to repeat and expand on what the previous editor wrote. In both English and Afrikaans, it is normal to sort names that have prefixes such as "de Gaulle and "du Toit" under "D" rather than under "G" or "T". The same applies to names such as "van der Merwe" which is sorted under "V". Moreover, in English, the lower case "d" is retained for "de Gaulle", but in Afrikaans a lower case "d" would only be used if a forename was also used, thus "Charles de Gaulle", but "De Gaulle" if the forename was omitted. - Hello @Martinvl:. I am a librarian and I must say I am very surprised as usually local capitalization rules are never applied to foreign names, which follow their own local rules. This is applied on English Wikipedia and all other Wikipedias, and the Afrikaans Wikipedia is the first Wikipedia which I see that does not follow the usual indexation rules (complex, I agree) applied in all National libraries (including the National Library of South Africa, which files him under Gaulle, Charles de, and not De Gaulle, Charles, which is a mistake). Also, concerning Dutch names, it is important to know that the rules are different for Netherlands from Belgian and Afrikaans names. Culex (kontak) 23:56, 17 Oktober 2021 (UTC)
