Algiers

Thanks for creating the article Algiers!! I've been meaning to get around to that sooner or later. :) --Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 19:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

That's fine, I try to create more articles about countrys and capitals. Best regards and greatings from Germany, :) -- JCIV (kontak) 19:30, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for creating the articles, but I have one small favour to ask of you, could you please use the infobox that I used in Algiers? It is more flexible and I think you can agree that it's appearance is alot better? If you need help working it out, you can see my edit I made to Algiers. Once again can I just say thank you for creating these vital articles :) Grüße --Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 19:58, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
I'll use the infobox and changed it in Nieu-Delhi like an exercise. You have also created vital artikels, I see and I'm going to create more vital artikels. You said "Grüße", I like to ask you, how good is your german? :) Best regards, -- JCIV (kontak) 07:47, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Well I've been learning German for 5 years now in school, and this year I will do my German GCSE. I know enough to get by with a German family because I did a German exchange to Reutlingen for 4 years.--Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 08:45, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
And thank you very much for changing the infobox. I say it's more flexible because one can change it's format.--Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 08:47, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Oh, that's good. And are you able to talk with me in german? Let's try it. :)
You're welcome! I have a question about the Infoboxes here at af:wp. Why are they so many different infoboxes like Sjabloon:Tabel land, Sjabloon:Landtabel-mini-nl and Sjabloon:Infobox Country for countries? I see, Sjabloon:Landtabel-mini-nl is for members of the EU, Sjabloon:Tabel land is for other european countries and Sjabloon:Infobox Country is for no-european countries. -- JCIV (kontak) 09:05, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it is a problem that we have too many infoboxes for countries and cities, and personally I think it's because people have different opinions on how a country infobox should look like. We also have so many because many IP addresses first created country articles, and they chose an infobox that suited them, not others. Ich muss auch mit dir meer Deutsch sprechen (sorry about my German :/) --Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 15:38, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Anrie (kontak) 14:26, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
And a lot of articles about cities and countries have no infobox. What could we do with this problem? Maybe, the users must discus, which infobox they will use and delete the two others. Your german sentence confused me: You say, you must talk more german with me, too. Did you mean that? :) And what do you think about my englisch? I hope, it's good enough to talk with you. :) -- JCIV (kontak) 16:21, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Dein Englisch ist perfekt :) And about the infoboxes, city articles are a difficult situation, and a certain infobox is suited for each city article. As for countries, I guess there's no objections to a discussion, but it will be a large project if we are going to change all country articles to the same infobox. (in my sentance I meant to say 'I must talk more German with you :) as you can see, my German ist furchbar) Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 16:40, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Oh, sehr gut. :) But I don't know all words and that's why I need to look for they in dictionaries. I need to work at my ohter languages, like afrikaans, but that's difficult here in germany. The trouble with the infoboxes is "Mission: Hard Work". If I have enough time, maybe at long weekends, I'll try it. "Dein Englisch ist perfekt" That was really good! :) -- JCIV (kontak) 17:40, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
=D If you need help with Afrikaans, you can always use google translate, which translates from German to Afrikaans, Afrikaans to German etc.
Oh, thank you. I didn't know before. But where can I get afrikaans grammar? -- JCIV (kontak) 07:00, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
I mainly learn through my mistakes on articles, but I would suggest that you maybe contact other users on this wiki, I know Voyageur has a wikibook about the grammar of Afrikaans. You can also find some afrikaans dictionaires on my userpage.--Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 14:13, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Articles

Hi, JCIV. You're mothertongue is clearly not Afrikaans, yet you are creating a lot of articles here at the Afrikaans Wikipedia. Please tag all your creations/edits with {{gaantaalna}}, so proofreaders can find them easily to correct any potential mistakes. Thanks in advance! Anrie (kontak) 16:21, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Dear Anrie, did you mean edits like this? Often I add Templates and Files and I think, that are correct edits, aren't they? Since yet I will only write new stub-articles about countrys and towns. That's easier for me and better for the af:wp. Best regards, -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 13:01, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
I mean edits like this. Anrie (kontak) 13:13, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, and I will look for native speakers of afrikaans at my friends and send them my text to correct them. -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 13:20, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Bahá'í Faith in South Africa

this wikipedia article might be worth some of your time..... :-)—Hierdie ongetekende kommentaar is deur Smkolins gelewer (BesprekingBydraes) .

That's too much for me, because my Afrikaans is not good enough for that article, sorry. -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 13:05, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Danke!

Baie Dankie for your edits on cities and countries, although some on this wiki might argue they are too short, they are very useful to the wikipedia community. And also well done on getting the hang of Afrikaans! The only thing that I would prefer you do is for redirects instead could you please write 'AANSTUUR' instead of REDIRECT. Once again, Thank You for your efforts on this wiki :)

P.S., remember in Afrikaans place names with a U changes to a OE (Rangun >> Rangoen, Istanbul >> Istaboel). If you are unsure about a name in Afrikaans either check Afrikaans google translate or Dutch wikipedia. Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 16:02, 15 November 2009 (UTC) =D

Geen probleem, I love editing here and learning Afrikaans! I am also confused about using Aanstur or Redirect: If I used Aanstur, it was changed and if I used Redirect, it was also changed. I think, Aanstur is the equivalent of "Weiterleitung" in german and Redirect is an angliszism word.
That's why I must learn more afrikaans: I know the german and english names and a lot of the dutch names, but afrikaans names are different to the others. That confused me a little bit, but I learn it. ;-)
BTW: I saw the full Speedy deletion Categoriy. How can we solve this problem? -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 16:17, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
#AANSTUUR is the correct word for #REDIRECT. I think RAM changed it because he followed the noredirect link from Recentchanges and thought it didn't work. You can also insert #AANSTUUR directly from the user panel under the editing screen. Look at the noredirect screen at [1] and see the normal redirect action when clicking on NATO, to see if it works (I just replaced REDIRECT with AANSTUUR). — Adriaan (Bespreking • Bydraes) 16:27, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
OK, thank you! Excuse me, but I'm used to create redirects with #REDIRECT from the de:wp. Here I will use now #AANSTUUR for redirects. :-) -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 16:48, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't really matter, because both codes work. It is just extra trouble for you to write REDIRECT because AANSTUUR is already on the edit toolbar as well as on the panel under the editing screen. — Adriaan (Bespreking • Bydraes)
That's correct, and it doesn't really matter how we write it. #aanstuur or #redirect also works. -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 17:09, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Infobox

Hi JCIV, before I begin great work on the articles and thank you for filling in those little article gaps. But one thing that I think you can agree on is how annoying those infoboxes can be, and especially how unflexible they are. I was wondering if you would like to play around with the infobox from the article Bristol, I always use this infobox because its SO much easier to use. It is your choice what you prefer, but in some article the infobox can ruin the article's beauty, and display very confusing information. Many cities that I have created in the UK (like Coventry and Exeter) have trouble filling in boxes like 'wapen' and 'vlag' because it has neither. Please take these 'copy-and-past infoboxes' into consideration. Kindest Regards - Ben Bezuidenhout (kontak) 17:05, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Dear Ben, oh no, sorry, I forget it. Yes, I remember now, what you've said about the infoboxes above. I agree to change the Infoboxes what I've used to the flexible Infoboxes. An example for the unflexible infobox is the article Rome, where I've added it. And do you have an e-mail adress here? Best regards, -- JCIV (Besprekings | Bydraes) 17:17, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
