Isotope van einsteinium
Voorkoms
Die chemiese element einsteinium (Es), met ’n atoommassa van ongeveer 252 u, het geen stabiele isotope nie en word dus as ’n radioaktiewe element geklassifiseer. Die 18 isotope is onstabiel en het ’n relatief kort halfleeftyd (die meeste minder as ’n uur).
In die natuur kom geen einsteinium voor nie; alle isotope is sinteties berei. Die eerste ontdekte sintetiese isotoop was 253Es, in 1952 in die neerslag van ’n waterstofbom.
Die kortslewende isotoop van einsteinium is 240Es, met ’n halfleeftyd van ongeveer 1 sekonde. Die langslewende een is 252Es, met ’n halfleeftyd van 471,7 dae.
