Kohautia attenuata is 'n eenjarige of meerjarige plant wat deel is van die Rubiaceae familie. Die spesie is inheems aan Botswana, Djiboeti, Eritrea, Ethiopië, Indië, Jemen, Kaap Verde, Kenia, Mali, Mauritanië, Namibië, Niger, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalië, Soedan, Suid-Afrika, Tanzanië, Tsjad, Uganda en Zimbabwe. In Suid-Afrika kom die plant onder andere in die Noordwes, Limpopo en Vrystaat-provinsies voor.
