Jacques Derrida (1930–2004) was 'n Franse filosoof, gebore in Frans-Algerië. Derrida is 'n sleutelfiguur in die "dekonstruksie", 'n vorm van kritiek van beide literêre en filosofiese tekste en politieke instellings. Derrida het weggeskram van die woord "dekonstruksie". Die gewilde gebruik van die woord dui op die wye invloed van sy gedagtes in die filosofie, literêre kritiek en teorie. Hy is 'n belangrike figuur in poststrukturalisme en post-moderne filosofie.

Daar word gereeld etiese en politieke temas verteenwoordig in sy werk, veral in sy latere werk. Derrida het verskeie aktiviste en politieke bewegings beïnvloed. Derrida was 'n bekende en invloedryke openbare figuur, terwyl sy benadering tot die filosofie besonder moeilik was om te verstaan. Derrida se sentrale idee was dat die wêreld as 'n "teks" geïnterpreteer kan word. Dekonstruksie word sterk geassosieer met die beweging van poststrukturalisme.
